Snap and Savor: Day 18

The Snap To sing, to soothe, to nurse, to sway, to sit…perchance to eat. The Savor To remember that when the day just does not go quite as planned, there is usually something else that was meant to be instead. That “meant to be” just might be the most precious moment of the day, if I stop and breathe. A reminder that man cannot live by bread alone. I certainly cannot. It is best not to leave an avocado-tomato-spinach sandwich sitting for an extended time; I guess, unless you are a fan of soggy bread. [As a side note, an old … Continue reading Snap and Savor: Day 18

Snap and Savor: Day 17

The Snap Memento of a meaningful farewell. The command wished David an official goodbye tonight. As part of the departure, he gave each of his fellow officers a reminder of the command fitness program he led (some have called it intense, others borderline torture). The Savor To remember the people he has served with these past three years. His colleagues, now friends. An unexpected gift to hear that we are living how we set out to do. Snap and Savor: Day 16

The Snap Rain boots! The Savor The outing adventure is always worth it, no matter what the weather. To remember the first pair of rain boots each of us has owned. Very well used now. A reminder that the best weather prediction for Japan is probably NOT forecasted from the States. (Not a drop of rain today despite the stormy prediction from my English weather app). Snap and Savor: Day 15

The Snap Half a year. The Savor This boy rocks his BabyLegs! To remember the grab-your-feet-and-giggle days. Before he can leave the mat, open drawers, explore the floor. Before crawling, scooting, rolling, sitting. When all he wants to do is just be—right where we are. A reminder of why the cliché becomes, well, cliché…. Time really does fly. They really do grow up so fast. And, so, I really should seize the moment. [To see what this 70 days of Snap and Savor is all about, see Day 1.] Continue reading Snap and Savor: Day 15

Snap and Savor: Day 14

The Snap A holiday shared at home among friends, and photos to prove it. The Savor Fulfilling the “create” longing of my soul today. Create space. Create food. Then capture it all. To remember those who serve and have served. Those who believe so strongly that they sacrifice daily. Those who have given it all. A reminder that the entire day of preparing is truly energizing when it ends in delightful sips, tasty bites, and comfortable couch conversations. [To see what this 70 days of Snap and Savor is all about, see Day 1.] Continue reading Snap and Savor: Day 14
