The Snap Left my shoes at the door as I entered into the tiny studio for a pedicure. The Savor To remember this custom about shoes. That first seemed so unusual, inconvenient, and down-right annoying. And now, a habit, expectation, and down-right common sense. I will miss that. A reminder that the foreign can become familiar if we let it, allowing (forcing) ourselves to be fully immersed into the community around us. The Snap A favorite family dinner spot. Sushi go-round! The Savor To remember piling plates high as we demolished bite after tasty bite—salmon, tuna, scallops, egg plant, shrimp, eel, something almost inedible that D choked down, and T’s most requested ikura (salmon roe)! The Snap Today’s reading material. The Savor A reminder that our two became four while we were here. To remember that she is processing so well the immense changes that are going on around her. We hope and pray it stays that way! To remember her 2-year-old fascination with “going to California now?”, the “moo-bing truck,” and the “BEG boat!” (that will carry her toys and bed, and even her Anpanman fork, across the pacific).
